Chance brought them together. Aalaap and Rahul met through a common friend for an inter-collegiate performance. What was meant to be a one off jamming session; ended up as a musical journey. Aalaap and Rahul evolved into RAHLAAP (pronounced as ‘Raalaap’).
While they had similar tastes in music, there was a world of difference in their approach to creating it.
Rahul Nambiar, a successful playback singer in Tamil/Telugu had no formal training in music, while Aalaap Raju, a bass player and singer, hailed from a family of musicians. One believed that music is best written while the other had faith in the “lego world” of building blocks. This, coupled with the fact that one of them was a singer and the other a bass player/singer, represented a fascinating union of varying styles and approaches to music.
RAHLAAP has just finished a self-titled Hindi music album. The album will later be released in Tamil and Malayalam. They have been working together on various musical projects for the last 4 years. It has been a great journey for both – experimenting and evolving, they believe they can stir up the sagging pop culture in India.
RAHLAAP’s passion is in performing live and musically interacting with the audience. Their stage presence, camaraderie and understanding of the target audiences have been much appreciated. This unique connect is something they aim to achieve with their album as well.
